Update On ElektroPR

Dear Friends, Followers and supporters,

I’d like to announce that I will be taking a step back with ElektroPR for the time being. After much thought I have decided to focus on another one of my projects called “I Think You’re Rad” for the time being. ElektroPR is not ending, but it will be returning as Betty Elektro Productions and Creative Consulting in the near future. It has been an amazing 2+ years of producing live music shows, running charity events with bands and also running our annual Charity Music & Arts Festival. With that being said my 2015 Charity Music & Art Festival will be postponed until the new transition takes place and with an official name that will be announced next year.

It has been wonderful to have been able to work with many local bands, working with different local music venues and getting to know many of you there. Betty Elektro Productions and Creative Consulting will be coming in 2016 with a similar mission.

I invite all of you to check out my  I Think You’re Rad Project that is focusing on the good in Los Angeles and honoring individuals and small organizations that are making a difference in the community. This project will focus on spreading positivity, will also include some community events, a video series and also its own festival. I would appreciate the support on this project when we launch our Kickstarter campaign in a few months to help us get into production and make this a reality.

With much appreciation to all of you that have been part of ElektroPR and supported our work.

Our Annual Charity Music and Arts Festival Update

Dear friends, followers and supporters. As you know for the past two years I have been running our annual Charity Music and arts festival where 100% of the door proceeds go to a local charity in Los Angeles. This coming 2015 I am not sure if our festival will happen since I will not be able to cover the costs to run this amazing event out of pocket this coming year. I do not want to halt this festival in 2015, but need your support. We need to raise $500-$600 to help cover the costs to help run this event, take care of the volunteer bands and festival volunteers, sound technician, flyers and set up. I am planning on setting up a GoFund me or something similar to help raise these funds. Remember this charity festival is by people that want to make a difference and help local organizations and I want to be able to continue doing this year to help build a sense of community in L.A. Thank you <2

Kids Without Instruments

Kids Without Instruments (KWI) began as a dream that would later turn reality when two star-crossed-socially-awkward children met on the popular social media site Tumblr. Their identities are FrankJavCee, an 8-Bit, SNES RPG enthusiast producer/singer/songwriter and Marion, a shooting star singer/songwriter, who together began making melancholic pop beats in 2011.

Kids Without Instruments eventually found their way to some indie music industry ears, and were recently signed by Benjamin Groff of Kobalt Music Publishing, whose client roster includes: Skrillex, Bon Iver, Cut Copy, Gotye, Yeasayer, Kid Cudi, Band of Horses, LMFAO, Beck and Tiesto,

Kids Without Instruments hopes to one day start a charity that would give solar powered keyboards to children so that under privileged youth and the youth of third world countries can find the power in electronic music.-Full Bio

Dear Beloveds

Dear Beloveds began as a folk band consisting of siblings Elisa and Gunnar, based in Ojai, California. After performing duo for two years they met bassist and electronic music producer Oliwa (He’s My Brother, She’s My Sister) at Burning Man and instantly fell in love. They invited him to join them as a bandmate and co-producer for their debut EP, Emergence. Through this fruitful collaboration, Dear Beloveds new sound is expanding on their folk origins, layering lush synthesizers, electronic beats, and orchestral textures.-Bio

2014 ElektroPR Charity Music & Arts Festival Band and DJ Lineup!

Diamonds Under Fire

Diamonds Under Fire is the heart and soul of singer, songwriter, and guitarist Vanessa Silberman. She started the band in her late teens & evolved it over the last 9 years. Silberman took on multiple roles in the studio from playing most of the instruments to producing. Behind the scenes you could find her doing everything from booking tours to running DUF music online content, to designing the bands art & images.

In April 2011 Diamonds Under Fire self-released the debut record produced by Vanessa Silberman tracked with Kevin Calaba at Paul Green’s Studio House (School Of Rock creator in New York). A tour supported the release which included dates with electro-rock duo Uh Huh Her.

After returning home from tour in the summer of 2011, Silberman was invited to collaborate on tracks with Engineer / Producer John ‘Lou’ Lousteau at the Foo Fighter’s Studio 606.

In early 2012, after numerous line up changes, Silberman, always eager to evolve & develop the bands sound, recruited drummer Jessica Goodwin (Big Black Delta) and bassist Melinda Holm (JAN). The chemistry clicked and newly created DUF lineup made their LIVE debut at Sunset Strip Music Festival. By the summer of 2012 the three piece released their single “Sunshine” which was recorded Studio 606.

Diamonds Under Fire spent most of 2013 in the studio, collaborating with John ‘Lou’ Lousteau and is in the final mixing stages with their next record. Release set for Spring 2014.

With strong DIY roots, Diamonds Under Fire has self-released numerous EPs, toured the US 10 times – also playing Canada, the UK, & of course SXSW. Diamonds Under Fire are LA darlings! Locally the band has made its mark on all the known venues including The El Rey, The Troubadour, Viper Room, The Echo and Bootleg Theatre. They have shared the stage with Meg Myers, Dead Sara, LP (98.7FM’s ‘Close to Home’), Butterfly Boucher, Brian Glaze (Brian Jonestown Massacre) and many others. The band has been featured on 4 Vans ‘Off The Wall’ Compilations, in Guitar Player Magazine with a cover call out, has spins on commercial and non-com radio, and was featured on Time Warner’s ‘SoCal Beat’.

Diamonds Under Fire’s power house live show & music has often been compared to the raw bare bones rock ‘n roll of Nirvana, The Ramones, Joan Jett, with the danciness of No Doubt & the pop sensibilities of Pink.

DEKADES

“Dekades like things dark and delicious. The new band led by guitarist Arden Fisher (who plays in Omniflux) does more to soundtrack the spooky season on its first single “Dark Horse” than all the kitschy Halloween songs we’ve heard in the past week. Layers of guitars, dirty electronics and feverish vocals almost make you feel entombed, as a matter of fact. Dekades has been teasing its forthcoming music with not one, not two, but three videos by director Aaron Paustian, and between those visuals and the Nine Inch Nails-esque sinisterness of this single, we’re curious about what shadowy places Fisher will go”-Kevin Bronson of Buzzbands.la

Special Guest DJ Patricial Hall (of Soft Metals)

“Drawing inspiration from eclectic influences such as minimal synth, early industrial, house, and techno, the evocative synth-pop duo Soft Metals is keyboardist/programmer Ian Hicks and singer/keyboardist Patricia Hall. The pair began working together in Portland, Oregon in early 2009.   After signing to Captured Tracks, they released their debut EP The Cold World Melts in July 2010 and issued their self-titled full-length a year later. Soft Metals relocated to Los Angeles and returned with new music in 2013 in the form of their second album Lenses, which featured collaborations with Optimo’s J.D. Twitch and focused on the dance aspects of their music.”

imageFalling Still

“It’s been a long, strange journey for Los Angeles-based trio Falling Still, and it shows in their unpredictable brand of rock and roll. Originally from Akron, Ohio, the three childhood friends have formed a powerful musical bond that cannot be shaken. The psychedelic screams of Eric Podnar’s guitar, the ominous barrage of Brett Hamilton’s bass, and the primal rage of Jeremy Cull’s drums inhabit a brave new world that’s altogether familiar and accessible. Falling Still’s live show is an energetic feast of sound, lights, and furious motion. Desperate to entertain at all costs, a sweaty and drunken good time is found by all who seek it. And most who don’t.”

“Front man Edgar Hernandez and his slick white Gibson Firebird lured me in with bluesy rhythmic riffs and captured my attention with powerful chord progressions. But it was the endless supply of gritty and frenzied guitar solos that really secured my admiration and made me go, “Holy fuck!” As my friend Brandon put it”-Leblackstar.com

Kids Without Instruments

“Kids Without Instruments (KWI) began as a dream that would later turn reality when two star-crossed-socially-awkward children met on the popular social media site Tumblr. Their identities are FrankJavCee, an 8-Bit, SNES RPG enthusiast producer/singer/songwriter and Marion, a shooting star singer/songwriter, who together began making melancholic pop beats in 2011.

Frankie was a marching band geek from East LA, wrote songs acoustic songs about cats and crows, while Marion was a catholic school girl who swam on the swim team and believed she was a mermaid. Frankie would upload various 8-bit versions of pop songs on YouTube, while Marion uploaded acoustic covers on her site. Both being children of the internet they met via their similar interests in the band Crystal Castles, whom they cite as an inspiration.

Over Facebook messenger they would send each other beats, and in the Spring of 2011 wrote some of their first songs even before meeting in person. Frankie later moved to Long Beach after being accepted to CSULB (California State Long Beach) where Marion also went, both majoring in film.

One fate filled summer night between roaming around the wilderness and going on a spirit quest, Kids Without Instruments began as an ironic inside joke. However starting a band ironically later led to the completion of their first self titled debut EP self released on 11/11/11 cause it seemed like a lucky date. They then spent the rest of the Fall and Winter of 2011 playing shows in local Long Beach venues solving mysteries in a Ford Windstar 1999.

Kids Without Instruments hopes to one day start a charity that would give solar powered keyboards to children so that under privileged youth and the youth of third world countries can find the power in electronic music.

Kids Without Instruments use a laptop with a MIDI controller, yet sometimes use instruments on stage. This is as an ironic statement about the music industry and it’s reliance on computers and produced dance tracks. The band name Kids Without Instruments also reflects the ever growing popularity of music created without conventional instruments, as well as a political statement about how the children of the world with music in their hearts don’t have the ability to possess instruments.

We are Kids Without Instruments. We don’t play instruments. Except on stage”

L.A.  newcomers-

“After doing a solar powered tour across Iowa via bicycles, Chasing Shade was recently likened to being the hardest working band in show business. – Iowa City Press Citizen, July 26th, 2012

Thus, it should be no surprise that this indie-beach-blues duo based out of Iowa City, IA has shared the stage with some of the top acts in the country including Bon Jovi, Pepper, G.Love & Special Sauce, Rusted Root, Lissie, and Mason Jennings”.
