Our Annual Charity Music and Arts Festival Update

Dear friends, followers and supporters. As you know for the past two years I have been running our annual Charity Music and arts festival where 100% of the door proceeds go to a local charity in Los Angeles. This coming 2015 I am not sure if our festival will happen since I will not be able to cover the costs to run this amazing event out of pocket this coming year. I do not want to halt this festival in 2015, but need your support. We need to raise $500-$600 to help cover the costs to help run this event, take care of the volunteer bands and festival volunteers, sound technician, flyers and set up. I am planning on setting up a GoFund me or something similar to help raise these funds. Remember this charity festival is by people that want to make a difference and help local organizations and I want to be able to continue doing this year to help build a sense of community in L.A. Thank you <2

Kids Without Instruments (KWI) began as a dream that would later turn reality when two star-crossed-socially-awkward children met on the popular social media site Tumblr. Their identities are FrankJavCee, an 8-Bit, SNES RPG enthusiast producer/singer/songwriter and Marion, a shooting star singer/songwriter, who together began making melancholic pop beats in 2011.

Kids Without Instruments eventually found their way to some indie music industry ears, and were recently signed by Benjamin Groff of Kobalt Music Publishing, whose client roster includes: Skrillex, Bon Iver, Cut Copy, Gotye, Yeasayer, Kid Cudi, Band of Horses, LMFAO, Beck and Tiesto,

Kids Without Instruments hopes to one day start a charity that would give solar powered keyboards to children so that under privileged youth and the youth of third world countries can find the power in electronic music.-Full Bio

Dear Beloveds

Dear Beloveds began as a folk band consisting of siblings Elisa and Gunnar, based in Ojai, California. After performing duo for two years they met bassist and electronic music producer Oliwa (He’s My Brother, She’s My Sister) at Burning Man and instantly fell in love. They invited him to join them as a bandmate and co-producer for their debut EP, Emergence. Through this fruitful collaboration, Dear Beloveds new sound is expanding on their folk origins, layering lush synthesizers, electronic beats, and orchestral textures.-Bio

Changes Coming In Fall 2014

Happy to announce that ElektroPR will be transforming into:

Betty Elektro Productions

“Curating Creative Events, Benefiting Communities”

Starting in Fall 2014 ElektroPR will be transitioning into “Betty Elektro Productions”. Our web address BettyElektroProductions.com is parked and we’re excited about that. We will be providing services to curate live music, live art and a charity/community aspect to your events. Also offering consulting services for social media marketing campaigns. We will still be producing out monthly Back Room Friday Music Nights In Koreatown and we will continue to run our charity events to help the community since that makes us who we are.

*A pricing menu will be posted in the near future and we are happy to customize for your specific needs.

*We will post updates in the next couple of weeks and please come out to the Ktown Night Market on April 18th and 19th – this will be our first large community event that we are curating live music and a live paint artists village for!

With Love,

The ElektroPR Crew-Betty, Emily, Alvin and Heidy ❤

The Birth of ElektroPR and How Music Saved My Life

I get asked a lot about how I got inspired to randomly jump into curating live music shows and I’d thought I would share what led to start my journey. I believe everything happens for a reason and you meet certain people for a reason. Back in the summer of 2010 I had stumbled upon a band called Radio Freq online and noticed they were having a show at the Silverlake lounge in June 2010. So I headed out there and fell in love with the live show. There I met Cliff Magreta since he was part of the band. I immediately had to buy their rad vinyl record they had for sale. Soon after I stayed connected with Cliff online. In November of the same year I happened to be able to go to a private party at Blake Miller home and ran into Cliff again. I decided to reach out to Cliff again and saw that he had started a project called Minutes til Midnight. I fell in love with the music and offered to help promote it online and promote future shows. I was a bit rusty since I had no idea what I was doing, but later got the hang of it and with some of Cliffs guidance and ideas I felt comfortable and fell in love with helping a local band. Cliff helped inspire my now nickname “Betty Elektro” and from there there was ideas of promoting the band with some sort of promotion name behind it. As I did things on my own something hit me in the summer of 2012 and I told myself I had to work on shows and what I didn’t know what to do, I would learn and keep going. So I did and I gave birth to Elektro-PR. It was all meant to be, it was my fate. I will never forget where everything started and that was all thanks to a cool local band and a guy that gave me a chance to learn something about myself and bring something out of me that was there all along and it changed my life. Honestly it saved my life after leaving a very unhealthy relationship with a verbally abusive man, I felt like I had nothing left. Music came into my life in an amazing way and it revived me and it reminded me that I had more to give and all the emotional scars I had, could be healed. It led me to amazing friends through starting this up and reconnecting with amazing people. Music does save lives and it saved mine.
